Camila Barbosa, Sophomore
International Affairs • Elliott School of International Affairs
Whether it’s gaining experience on the international, national or local level, Camila’s GW education is getting her closer to her goals. The international relations and criminal justice double major has been an intern on Capitol Hill in Representative Darren Soto’s (JD ’04) office and the Embassy of El Salvador where she helped develop trade policy reports. This fall, she will intern for the DC Metro Police Department. Plus, Camila has learned firsthand from judges and attorneys as a member of GW’s Mock Trial team.
Sylvain Guiriec, Associate Professor
Physics • Columbian College of Arts and Sciences
Dr. Sylvain Guiriec proves that GW is a launch pad in more ways than one. Dr. Guiriec and his GW students work on cutting-edge projects in partnership with NASA, from developing X-ray space telescopes and launching satellites to mapping gamma-ray bursts.The GW physics professor and astrophysicist at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center leads GW’s partnership with NASA, creating student and faculty research opportunities at Goddard.
Joselle Mensah, M.S. '26
International Business • GW School of Business
Gaining opportunities to institutions like the World Bank and IMF is exactly why Joselle Mensah chose GW—and she made the most of it. With support from the GW International Institute for Economic Policy, Joselle attended last fall’s World Bank Group (WBG) and International Monetary Fund annual meetings, and this past summer she participated in the WBG Youth Summit. There she connected with other emerging leaders from around the world, working on hands-on projects that simulated real-world policy challenges. This fall, Joselle has accepted a new role in data governance.
Devin Tennant, B.S. '26 and M.P.H. '27
Public Health • Milken Institute School of Public Health
Devin merged his two major career interests — health policy and law — by graduating from GW in 2026 with a double major in Public Health and Criminal Justice. He went a step further by taking the lessons from the classroom into his internship with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, where he supported engagements with congressional offices. The experience confirmed Devin’s long-term path toward health policy and the law, where he is set to earn his Master of Public Health from GW in 2027.
Tanah Becker, Junior
Sociology • Columbian College of Arts and Sciences
Tanah knows the power of stepping forward and showing up. In fact, last year she set a single-season GW Women’s Basketball program record with 36 games played, making 34 starts. Off the court, the Winnipeg native is inspired by the ambitions of her GW classmates all striving for something bigger, as well as the liveliness and joy she encounters throughout DC. With GW Director of Student-Athlete Mental Health Jordan Butler’s mentorship, Tanah is interested in becoming a sports mental therapist—unless she gets a chance to play in Greece first.
Edlyn Rochon, M.P.H. '26 and Ph.D. Candidate
Public Health • Milken Institute School of Public Health
Edlyn Rochon hopes her passion for knowledge and her community will have a big impact. Working full-time at GW's Gill-Lebovic Center, Edlyn is focused on reducing the prevalence of diabetes in the Latino community. This work holds a special connection for Edlyn, whose parents came to the D.C. area from their native El Salvador. The first-generation college graduate has earned three bachelor’s degrees, her Master of Public Health (MPH) at GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health (SPH), and is now back at SPH to pursue her Ph.D.
David Broniatowski, Associate Professor
Engineering Management and Systems Engineering • School of Engineering & Applied Science
Dr. David Broniatowski examines the systemic flow of information at the intersection of artificial intelligence, public health and democratic governance. With his analyses of social media ecosystems, Dr. Broniatowski has shown how misinformation spreads—as well as how it can be slowed.
Dr. Broniatowski also serves as the Research Director of GW’s Trustworthy AI initiative and is Deputy Director of National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) National Science Foundation’s TRAILS (Trustworthy AI in Law & Society) Institute.
Amir Arrington, Senior
Business • GW School of Business
In the nation’s capital “where everybody’s on the move,” the senior business major, men’s basketball walk-on, Posse scholar and budding entrepreneur is keeping pace and thriving in his element. Priding himself on the relationship-building lessons he’s gained from GWSB, Amir has amassed a network that not only includes fellow students from all over the world, but also alumni and local executives who have provided Amir with hands-on learning opportunities in real estate, hospitality and entrepreneurship. In turn, Amir is applying these real-life lessons to his own start-up, the AthLead Network.
